What to expect

As an Intregrative Counsellor I will draw upon a variety of different theories and techniques all within a safe framework. I use elements of CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), Person Centred Therapy and Transactional Analysis, this enables me to tailor your therapy to suit your needs.

My aim is to understand things from your perspective so that you can aim to reach your desired outcomes and your goals. I also aim to help clients explore their own thoughts and feelings and to work out their own solutions to their problems.

Consultation During your consultation you can ask as many questions as you like and discuss the different options available to you, you can get to know who I am and see if we are a good match for working together. I will also provide you with a working agreement and contract to read and sign prior to our first session.

Initial session During the initial session we will revisit the working agreement and contract to ensure you are fully understanding and you have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have about them.

I will explain boundaries and confidentiality and we will also talk about what brought you to counselling and what your goals/desired outcomes may be. Sessions will be 50 minutes and we will also discuss whether you wish to book several sessions or take each one as it goes.

Sessions All sessions will be 50 minutes long. I work with what you bring to the session. I might ask questions, we may look at coping strategies but please remember you don’t have to talk about anything that you don’t want to.
